The Best Place to Elope in Hawaii — Courtney Folkman

Oh Hawaii…. the most enchanting, tropical set of islands I have visited. I could not think of a more perfect place for a destination elopement. The question then becomes, where? and which island? Luckily for you, I traveled to Hawaii with my family a lot growing up, so much so I have been to every island.

Although every island is beautiful, and you really can’t go wrong eloping on any of them, I would have to say that if I were to choose one to plan an elopement in would be Kauai, and here is why…

Kauai is incredible, lush green tropical mountains and jungles, waterfalls everywhere you look, and the most incredible beaches. Out of all the islands I have been to, this one felt the most “quiet”, or the least touristy…. and for this reason alone I would say eloping here is hands down the best.

Another little fun fact about Kauai is that it has its own mini Grand Canyon, yup! Red rock and all! It was really surprising when I found out about it as well. It’s called Waimea Canyon State Park. It is absolutely breath taking and would make for the most amazing elopement spot.

However, if canyon is not your vibe consider the Na Pali Coast. Another one of Kauai’s gems. This coast is breath taking! I would recommend charting a boat and saying your vows on the ocean or this epic coast also has an epic hiking trail if you would rather make your promises on more solid ground. Ether way you can’t go wrong with this location.

Last but not least… Waterfalls!! Who wouldn’t want to get married infront of a waterfall? Especially a tropical one, at that. There are a lot of options on waterfalls, some tend to be more touristy than others… however if I were to recommend one it would be, Hanakapiai Falls. Not only is it incredible to look at, but the short 2 mile hike to it has amazing views of the Na Pali coast!

If by this point you still aren’t convinced that getting married in Kauai is right for you, I urge you to realize that not only can this be your destination elopement/wedding, but also your destination honeymoon!
